Brooks is doing well- suddenly he seems super smart. I have always thought he was smart, but in the last couple of weeks he has just grown to a whole new level of processing. He plays peekaboo now, where he covers his own face. He doesn't just bang on toys, but tries to fit the shapes into the holes they belong in and uses the mechanisms to make toys spin, pop open, etc. He isn't just destructive towards his blocks, but will put one inside the other and has even begun stacking them. He is eating off a fork (not stabbing the food himself, but using it to feed himself). It is really funny because he claps after each bite because he knows we are so proud of him for doing that. He will hold the phone to my ear, and a shoe up to his foot because he knows that is where those things go. It is amazing to see how fast he is learning- he is such a sponge!
It was definitely nice after the busy week we had. As you know, last weekend we were in Ocean City, NJ. Well the very next day, Brooks and I headed to Ocean City, MD where my family was vacationing for the week to spend a couple days. It was a long ride, but he did alright. Coming home was much better because it was bedtime so he slept the whole way.
Wednesday was my birthday and B was kind of miserable- he had a bad rash from the long car rides and he was just cranky. We went out to a new sushi restaurant near us and it was DELICIOUS!
Thursday Eric's mock trial team that he volunteers to coach (involving kids involved with the Police Atheletic lead) had it's big match. Eric was actually the defendant- charged with robbery- and his team were his defense lawyers- and they won! Not guilty- phew. Brooks and I went to watch the trial (aka run around the gym) and Eric was on the 6pm news for this!
Friday I had an appt and dropped Brooks off with Eric- they had a boys lunch and enjoyed themselves until I got back. So as you can see it has been super busy and that is why we were glad for a weekend with no obligations :)
Ocean City- I didn't take too many pictures because we spend most of our time in the pool or in the hotel room (with me hiding behind the bed so the kid could nap)
Brooks LOVED the pool, loved it! He was shrieking and screaming like a maniac- but it was happy screaming!
Swimming with Nana- wearing the bathing suit Grandma Elly gave him for his birthday!
Not happy to be out of the pool
Eating lunch at the hotel restaurant- apparently it was amusing :)
Out to dinner- he kept putting the napkin on his head as a way of playing peekaboo!
Chasing bubbles during the kids events with grandpa!
And some other random pictures from this week!
Getting into trouble- as usual!
Playing while sitting on his bean bag chair Aunt Ali & Uncle Dave gave him for his birthday- he loves it!
What- the man of your dreams doesn't have his chipmunk cheeks stuffed with food and huge drool stains?
Is this shot better?
Walking around the park
And I was trying to give Brooks a piece of his mini waffle for breakfast- but Ming kept getting in the way!
