We hope everyone is surviving this heat wave- it is BRUTAL. Brooks seems to have inherited my skin in the fact that he gets absolutely red with the heat, even before he is really feeling it- poor kid. We had a wedding 2 weekends ago, my parents stayed with us and sat for the kids since we had both the Rehearsal Dinner and the big event since Eric was a groomsman. I think all had a nice weekend together- I must say it was nice to go out and be an adult not just once but twice!
Eric has a huge case that is coming to a head, so has been working miserable hours. Poor guy is living at the office and poor me is doing it alone from wakeups to bedtimes with the duo for a week and a half now. I am beat! Hence the delay in blogging :)
In other news- a beautiful new park opened up about 4 blocks from the house. It has a great playground with both an area geared towards older kids and an area made for the toddler set (recommended ages 2-5). It really is wonderful- only complaints are there is no shade to be had so it is tough to take B because Ivy can't be in the sun, and the slides are metal so BURN. BUT- there is a water area and it is fabulous. It has a central flower that has a waterfall flowing from it and then sprays up from the ground all over.
I could not get Brooks any closer than touching it with his hand and was so disappointed that he was not into this fabulous new spot. So I got him dressed and we played on the playground and swings. As we were leaving he saw 2 little boys holding balls over the water and making it spray. One dropped his ball and B took off after it, running right into all the water. He was shocked at first, but then that was it. I lost him to it and he had a blast running around like a lunatic and getting soaked. He calls it the beach and keeps asking to go to the beach- which is hysterical. Ivy was pretty entertained watching the spray so hung out in the stroller as I chased him around.
Another new favorite thing we have been doing, is BUBBLES! We sit out on the stoop with chalk a lot, but got the gymboree bubbles (best bubbles ever- blow great and the wand is not drippy for kids to handle). Ivy just hangs out and watches- or we go out while she is napping
Brooks actually was chasing his shadow like a lunatic
Mom will you pleeease stop taking my picture?
I can only hope she goes through life this happy- she is seriously the happiest child EVER
Fascinated by her toys lately
Also fascinated by the leaves on the tree outside our window
Brooks has really been into accessorizing himself. He loves wearing different shoes and hats, has been pickier about his clothes, sometimes wants to stay in his PJs, and has gone so far as to reject certain diapers (he wants elmo, not big bird)
Not only does he accessorize himself- but he helps Ivy out as well and steals her stuff :)
He thinks he is super funny (he is!)
Muscle man!
This is him showing his teeth
Ivy has discovered her love for the infamous Sophie- we got her a new one b/c B's was chewed up and gross
My crew- just hanging out after naptime
He loves her- he even tolerated her sucking on his hand for a while
Trying to climb in with her
Mom- what is he doing to me?
Ivy was sitting, Ming joined her, and Ivy just made herself comfortable!
I would smile too looking at that reflection :)
My funny guy
This kid is pretty happy as well :)
He looks like an Abercrombie model in training!
This girl is such a doll-baby
Angel baby
I gave it one more go but am officially done with the joint swing attempt
At the wedding!
And Eric's high school friends- the groom & groomsmen- at the rehearsal dinner modeling their groomsmen gifts
