This is my 200th post! And no- I have nothing new and exciting to say.
Well I guess the big excitement over the past week was Miss Ivy turned 5 months old! This hit me hard- I cannot believe how fast time is going, it is unreal. It seems like she has always been with us at the same time it seems like she just got here.
At 5 months old, Ivy:
* rolls both ways (often flipping onto her tummy in the middle of the night resulting in lovely crying and extra wakeups)
* does not stop smiling
* is still EBF
* loves to watch Brooks
* is obsessed with TV. B never cared so we could leave it on sometimes- Ivy will stare so we have to be sure to turn it off.
* Thinks when people make chicken noises it is only the funniest thing ever
* Has mommy attachment issues. We never went through this with B- he was very chill and if anything was a daddy's boy, but Ivy is happy all the time, so long as I am holding her. Sure she is happy with others, but if she is remotely tired or crabby, I am the only one she calms instantly for. I hear this is very common and will be outgrown.
* Naps 3 times a day.
* Sleeps an avg of 5 hrs straight then is up every 2 or so hours (sucks!)
* Has found her feet and enjoys eating them
* Holds and chews on toys
* Can almost sit, but doesn't like to
* Goes to bed very well. She either falls asleep eating, or with minimal fuss (maybe 5 minutes of complaints/crying) she is out. This is awesome! Now we just need it to translate to 2am
Of course we did our photo shoot. It is so easy with this one. I used to take about 50 pictures of Brooks to try to get one good one because he was always moving and although was smiley, he made you work for it so it was harder to catch. This one I can take 10 pictures in a row and she is just happy as can be so it is tough to choose.
As I said- 5 months made me realize time is going by in a blink- so here are her monthly pictures compared to her newborn ones!
And other pictures from our little photo shoot :) You can see my little goofy man inserting himself as well, if only he was so cooperative when it was his turn!
And I know I am their mom, so I am biased, but I just can't help but think my kids are just extraordinarily beautiful, gorgeous babies. Brooks with is big beautiful eyes and his daddy's grin; and Ivy is just a perfect doll baby.
My perfect, gorgeous girl!
And toe sucking- I LOVE BABIES EATING TOES! Seriously- love
a throwback picture of Brooks eating his toes (cutie!)
And now Ivy eating hers! (1 month apart in age in these pics- I def see some similarities for the first time)
My oh so handsome boy!
An update on him that I think is worth talking about. You hear the term 'word explosion' in terms of kids learning to talk. Well he is exploding. He is talking up a storm. He will say things like pee pee, eww, gross when I change Ivy's diaper. He will say cut grape, cold water, hot coffee. He says pillow (pee-woo), pinwheel, diaper, etc. I could go on and on and would never name everything that has been coming out of his mouth. Not all of it is something anyone besides us would be positive of, but he is getting clearer and closer daily and just adding words like a champ! I am so proud of him.
(this was him trying to get me to take him out on the hottest day (115!). We went out for a bit then he was done.
Cheesy camera smile!
When did he get this big?
I really need to get Brooks some more hats- he wears this one all the time. I love how he decided to empty his toy bin, get in, face the wall, hat on of course, and read the book. He also has become a monkey (we found him standing on the kitchen table) and loves to sit in the windowsill and read (or stand and play with the lights).
We went down the shore for the day this past weekend. We were supposed to go the full weekend, but because of the heat wave (115 heat index!) we skipped Saturday and went just Sunday when the heat broke. Brooks had a blast running around on the basketball courts and playground, and enjoyed the beach. However the beach was repulsive- there were flies attacking us (literally 10 would be on my leg and biting me). They were everywhere, I have never seen a thing like it. B really loves the water and courts, so I am glad we got to go since we won't be back this year (although we are hoping to plan a family long weekend getaway at Cape May or somewhere). Yes he crawled in the dog crate- it seems to be a tradition.
B's new obsession- showers (he will say bye bye when you open the door to take him out) and wearing a towel like daddy :)
