This weekend marked the 7th annual Meyer-Rovner Shell Day down the shore. What is shell day you may ask? It is a family 'holiday' where shells are gathered, painted, and the best ones framed and hung in the shore house. This was our first year participating in shell day- the Rovner half of the family has been in it from the start. The first frame from 2003 has 2 lone shells from cousins Jarrett and Zachary- last years frame has 8 shells!
The tradition is growing- this year there were even shell day t-shirts for the whole family to wear.
Because Brooks was too little for a t-shirt- I made him a onesie to match (Mom you would have been so proud of my artistic endeavor)
Here are our contributions this year
Brooks' shell- boasts a footprint from him
My shell- just pretty and sparkly
Eric's shell- is supposed to be me. This is because this shell day I had a severe allergic reaction to the point of my eyeball swelling out of the socket (who knew the white could bulge out). My whole cheek was swollen and bruised looking, the eye was red and enormous, and it was horrible. I had to go to an emergency opthamologist appointment and am doing much better now. Of course we returned to make our shells and this is what Eric made.
Brooks also got to meet his cousins for the first time (Don't worry Jim- I will definitely make prints for you and Elaine :) We will probably see you guys Labor Day). The boys were great with him and really seemed to enjoy having a baby around to play with.
and to leave you- some other favorite pictures from this week :)
