Well- it is hard to believe it has been a week since I updated. It seems so long ago, and yet so short for all that has been going on.
I am not sure that I mentioned it on here- but B and I were in a car accident last week- we were driving in Camden (b/c a road was closed to get to the mall- I was doing last minute party errands) and an unlicensed driver was speeding and hit the tail of my car. My car spun 180 degrees and I ended up hitting the one way sign on the opposite end of the intersection head on (so imagine, I was through the intersection except my rear bumper, and I turned completely around and hit the sign as if I was going through the intersection coming from the opposite way). We then went up on the curb, back through the intersection and up on another curb. It was SCARY. And I must say- I handled the car very well, we could have hit pedestrians or a building, but were thankfully ok. Now my car is pretty messed up- but not totalled. The shop guesses 2-2.5 wks before I have it back. The rear bumper is not just destroyed but twisted (just goes to show you how hard we were hit). Plus from hitting the sign the front bumper and grills need replacing.
This was the first time that being a 1 car family has really sucked. I called Eric but of course he had no way to get to us (although if we were hurt or anything there is no doubt in my mind he would have been there). We were fine. That 15 seconds it took me to get out of the car and run around to my baby were the scariest of my life. Thank God he was ok- thank God. He cried a little, but not until I opened the door, and then I think from fear and probably sensing my tension.
To add to the experience- I mentioned we were in Camden. The woman driving the other car was screaming at us, at least 30 people were out there who saw what happened, but when the police drove up- poof, they disappeared. One nice man stayed and gave a statement about what happened and who was driving (they were lying about who was driving since she was unlicensed). When I was talking to the police about witnesses I gestured to a group of people and in a low voice they warned me not to point around there. A bystander remarked how I was like a cartoon come to life over there. Being stranded in Camden with a baby was as scary, if not scarier, than the accident itself.
But- in the end, we are ok. We went to the emergency room at Eric's insistence. We were fine, but better safe than sorry- especially with a little guy who can't talk and tell us if anything is off. We both checked out fine, and now it is just the annoyance of dealing with insurance, lack of a car, and the mechanic.
Last Sunday was father's day. We took it easy because we were in party recuperation mode. We did go to the mall though...
Eric- you are a wonderful, fantastic, fun, caring ,loving dad- and B and I are lucky to have you!
Father's Day 2009 (B was 4 days old)

Father's Day 2010
Monday we went to the Dr. for B's 1 yr checkup and shots. The kid gained back the weight he lost when he was sick and then some. At 1 he is weighing in at 21 lb 2 oz (25%) and 30.5" tall (60%)- long and lean. Now I know why I have such a hard time with clothes fitting him. 12-18 months are too big on his waist and 6-12 are floods. He is on track for milestones and such- he isn't walking, but not all kids are at 1. He is healthy, happy, and perfect!
B's new fave food is Watermelon. He loooves it. We had an entire watermelon left over from his party and I will just say it has made for some interesting diapers and now he is limited :)
Pretending the watermelon is a phone!
He is a silly guy- he also stole the maid money this week ;)
We have also had a lot of fun playing with our new presents that B got for his birthday. He has really enjoyed getting into everything and the newness of it all. From Eric's side- Poppop Jim and Grandma Sue got him 2 cute Ralph Lauren outfits and Grandma Elly was so sweet and even though she could not be at the party, she still bought B some nice swimsuits with matching tops and a hoodie from the Gap I will be sure to point them out in pictures as he wears them. Grandma Barbara gave him a stuffed animal, cd, and animal book.
From my side of the family B got some toys so we have some pics already.
From his favorite Aunt and Uncles at his bday party - Ali, Dave, & Griff(to be fair- his only Aunt and Uncles who made it there to celebrate)
Aunt Ali and Uncle Dave gave him a ball (which he loves) and a beanbag chair (which we don't have a pic of yet)
From Uncle Griff- a giraffe bike!
From Nana and Granpa- a bubble machine and a POOL!!!! They also got him some swim toys and bibs and clothes that will debut on the blog eventually. But the pool is heavenly- just in time for this heat wave
The Pool!
His favorite thing to do is crush the sides and watch the water run out- hey it amuses him!
Splashing
Thank you everyone for your generosity! B is lucky to have you in his life :)
